Canada’s Cyber Security Challenge

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event was cancelled for that date.
New plans will be considered, once public officials recommend that travel and group gatherings are safe for everyone.
Alberta area college and university undergrad students will compete in a realistic cyber breach simulation – hands-on participation and analysis – and a number of students will win IT Security job offers with local employers.

– Improving skills of the cyber workforce in Alberta
When: Saturday XXX March XXX, 2020
Where: South Alberta Institute of Technology
Schools: University of Calgary, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), University of Saskatchewan, Mount Royal University
Format: Students compete in teams to recon a vulnerable computer network, break through the cyber defenses, take control of the systems, and advise the company on how to defend against cyber attacks. Finalists will then do on-site interviews with the the sponsoring companies.
Prizes: Top students will be offered fully-paid Intern positions with local employers to do serious IT Security work. Most postings will be 4 to 8 months. Some will lead to full-time jobs.
